EPISODES 1-4 RECAP
A helpful summary of the events so far.
Our tale began watching TRIFOO collect rocks that seemed to satisfy some unknown set of conditions. We watch as he skips so many of these rocks across a massive lake that he fells a tree on the other shore. A superhuman feat of power, precision, and diligence. He returns home to his small cottage, and while making dinner a young woman shows up on his doorstep. She is badly injured and asks for help. He begrudgingly lets her in and immediately begins packing his things; it seems he is on the run.
Using a secret exit, TRIFOO and the young woman we come to know as CHIFFON, leave the house behind, while traps he set decimate whatever force had followed CHIFFON to his home. He does his first bit of overt magic, conjuring a skeletal head made of some translucent purple material to swallow his cottage, and all the corpses of the pursuers. He calls this technique Poltergeist.
CHIFFON and TRIFOO travel through the forest, he treats her wounds, and they meet an old tribe of Wolfmen along the way. TRIFOO quickly de-fangs them, literally and metaphorically, with another of his trusty skipping rocks. As they continue their journey, we learn that the surveillance crows that have been following him work for a mysterious figure with a prehensile ponytail known as I.T. Who proudly proclaims during a phone call to their superior, that a trap has been laid for TRIFOO in the town he’s heading towards.
Upon their arrival to the medieval-presenting town of Yeolden, TRIFOO drives CHIFFON away. They separate on bad terms. TRIFOO heads to an inn, and CHIFFON heads to a food cart to eat her feelings. TRIFOO is set upon by a man wearing a trenchcoat filled with a seemingly endless amount of knives. CHIFFON is confronted by a sheriff and his goons who apparently mean to collect a debt owed by her deceased father. CHIFFON is helped out of a pickle by the LAUGHING SWORDSMAN, a masked woman wielding a wooden blade. Together they arrive to see the end of TRIFOO’s fight with the TRENCHCOAT MAN.
TRIFOO does his second great act of magic: using a technique he calls “Seam, Alteration” powered by the blood of his multitudinous wounds, he transfers the many knives that have impaled him to the TRENCHCOAT MAN, who dies screaming. The technique comes at great cost, and TRIFOO is gravely injured. CHIFFON, with THE LAUGHING SWORDSMAN’s help, get him out of town and into the wilderness just outside of Yeolden to dress his wounds.
When TRIFOO awakens, we learn that THE LAUGHING SWORDSMAN is a bounty hunter. Her latest quarry? TRIFOO himself.
